Explosion kills man in Otsego

OTSEGO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man was killed in a workplace accident Monday morning.

 

It happened at Mill Assist Services Inc. on Farmer Street in Otsego shortly after 10:00.

 

Workers were trying to remove an end cap from a pipe used in the paper industry. They put the pipe under pressure and the cap came off suddenly, striking one of the workers in the chest. He died in the factory. The man was in his late 50's.

 

Two other people were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital.

 

MIOSHA is investigating.
