Kalamazoo votes to protect gays and lesbians

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Monday night the Kalamazoo City Commission voted unanimously to protect its gay and lesbian citizens.

 

The ordinance also includes bisexual and transgendered people. What the ordinance basically means is that no one can discriminate against such people because of their sexual orientation.

 

The ordinance pertains to housing, employment and public accommodations. Churches are not included in the ordinance.

 

Anyone who violates the ordinance will be fined up to $500.
