Booster shot clinics for H1N1
CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The flu outbreak has spread much quicker than labs could pump out vaccines.
It's hard enough to get one H1N1 shot, but doctors are recommending kids under 10 actually get two. They're called booster shots.
The Calhoun County Health Department just announced a couple clinics just for those.
Doctors recommend two shots because the youngest kids don't have as strong of an immune system.
In Battle Creek that second round is now available. Those 10 and older just need one dose of the H1N1 vaccine, but kids ages six months to 9 years old will need two shots.
This is different from the seasonal vaccine which kids only need one dose of, but with so much concern over the H1N1 flu it is recommended that you get your kids that second dose.
Clinics will be held at the Toeller Building in Battle Creek for Calhoun County residents next week.
On Monday clinics will be held from 7:00 am until 9:00 am, on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
It's important to remember that you need to wait 28 days to get your kids the second H1N1 shot.
The clinics next week are open to all Calhoun County residents and you do not need an appointment.
