5th graders to meet soldier online
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Some West Michigan students are using technology to meet a soldier in Iraq that they've been in contact with, but this will be the first face-to-face conversation.
Fifth graders at Forest Hills Central Woodlands adopted Corporal Aaron Scheer at the beginning of the school year through a program called Soldier's Angels.
Since then they've sent him cards and care packages.
Scheer is from Los Angeles and has been serving in the military for eight years.
