Alternative high school could close
OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Deep state funding cuts could close an alternative high school in Ottawa County.
Grandville Public Schools operates Orion School which also takes in students from Jenison and Hudsonville.
Right now Grandville is facing a $1.7 million deficit after the 292 dollar per-pupil cuts. The superintendent says closing Orion could save the district more than half a million dollars.
If it happens the students would be moved to the high school or their former districts.
Both Jenison and Hudsonville have to sign off on the closure as well.
Monday night Grandville's School Board will discuss where the proposed closure stands.
