Man found lying in creek could face drunk driving charges
BANGOR, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Van Buren County man could face drunk driving charges once he's released from the hospital.
Deputies found him in a ditch Saturday night lying in a creek.
They say the 59-year-old tried to leave his house in Bangor but got stuck in the snow in his driveway.
He jumped in a truck and tried to leave again, but he missed a turn coming out of his drive and the truck went down an embankment.
The man hit his head, leaving him unconscious in the freezing cold for several hours.
Rescuers air-lifted him to a Kalamazoo hospital where he's being treated for head injuries and frostbite.
Deputies think the man had been drinking. They're waiting on blood test results before they turn the case over to the prosecutor's office.
