WAYLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Heavy rains this week hit people in Allegan County hard.

Right now the Rabbit River is jumping its banks, sending water into a Wayland mobile home park. Folks who live there wonder how much more they can take.

The flooding has already restricted travel, leaving surrounding roads under water.

That community is not alone. Down river near Hopkins floodwaters are threatening several other homes.

The National Weather Service says things will probably get worse before they get better.

"Basically, the water has just got no where to go, there's so much water out there that we're pretty much saturated, and it's just kind of standing around, waiting to work its way through the river system," said Mark Walton, NWS Hydrologist.

With another inch of rain forecast in West Michigan by week's end, water levels will only get higher.

All that rain is also creating a health concern along the Grand River. The health department issued a no contact advisory for the entire stretch of river in Ottawa County.

Between one and two million gallons of raw sewage spilled into the water when rain pushed the water treatment plant over the edge.

The advisory runs through Friday afternoon.
