Two rescued from Allegan County lake

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Thursday saw some frightening moments for an Allegan County man and his nephew.

Police were called out to the Allegan Dam Lake Thursday afternoon on reports of a vehicle in the water, possibly with someone inside.

Witnesses tell Newschannel 3 that the man and his nephew were fishing when the boy walked back to the van and got in. That's when the vehicle started rolling back towards the water. The uncle tried to stop the van, but it rolled over him and into the water.

The boy climbed onto the van's roof while his uncle tried to save him.

When officers arrived, they dove in and saved both. The boy and his uncle were taken to the hospital to get checked out, but both are expected to be fine.
