Fatal accident shuts down M-96 in Augusta
Comments 0 | Recommend 0AUGUSTA, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A serious accident shut down M-96 in Augusta Friday.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department says that the accident occurred around 3:50 Friday afternoon, when a white SUV was driving erratically on eastbound M-96, crossed the center line and struck an Allied Waste Truck, which was traveling westbound.
The driver of the SUV was killed in the crash. Investigators have identified the driver as Doctor John Azevedo.
M-96 was shut down between 38th and G Avenue. It reopned around 7:15 Friday evening.
Visitation for Azevedo will be Thursday from 5p.m. to 8p.m. at Langland Family Funeral HOmes, Westside Chapel, in Kalamazoo. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 29.
