Kellogg's earnings strong

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Despite all the bad news surrounding big companies lately, one of West Michigan's biggest is doing very well.
Kellogg's surprised Wall Street Thursday morning with better-than-expected earnings.
The company earned a profit of $354 million for the second quarter. That's a jump of more than 10 percent from last year at this time.
Sales actually fell, but the company says earnings held up because of cost cutting.
