Brian James
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, Brian James moved to Grand Rapids when he was three. Brian has had a fascination with the weather since he was very young. He once got in trouble because a tornado warning had been issued for Kent County and instead of going down to the basement with his mom and sister (his dad was at work), he went outside and looked at the threatening sky. When he was in high school (Forest Hills Central), his earth science teacher used to do weather on TV. The teacher taught him more about weather than he could have possibly imagined. When it came time for college, Brian decided to go the school with one of the best meteorological programs in the world: The University of Oklahoma. There he got the chance to start storm chasing and quickly became hooked. To date he has seen more than 50 tornadoes. Brian started working in TV in 1998 and has worked at KOCO (Oklahoma City), WGKI (Cadillac, MI), WEYI (Flint/MBS) and most recently KVII (Amarillo, TX). Brian has a wife named Amanda and they have a daughter named Olivia. His hobbies include storm chasing (of course), snowboarding, fly fishing, going to the gym and squeezing in a round or two of golf.
