Man in a coma after being thrown from car

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Sparta man is in a coma after crashing his car early Saturday morning.

39-year-old Marc Padilla was driving east on 13 Mile Road when he lost control of his car at a curve in the roadway west of Phelps Avenue. Padilla smashed into several mailboxes and rolled his car a couple of times before being throw 32-feet from the car.

When police arrived they found Padilla lying in the middle of the road with several cuts, punctures, abrasions and a closed head injury.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor and police are investigating.
