Wyllie, Carolyn

Reporter Carolyn Wyllie joined NEWSCHANNEL 3 in February of 2000. Since then she has worked to build strong ties in the West Michigan community. She spent her first two years at NEWSCHANNEL 3 based out of the Battle Creek Newsroom. She is now based in Kalamazoo, but spends much of her time traveling to communities and counties throughout the region, searching out stories.

A native of Port Huron, Carolyn has spent her life in the Great Lakes State, and became familiar with West Michigan while serving as the nightside Assignment Editor for three years at WOOD-TV (NBC), Grand Rapids. She spent her first year there doing live feature reporting for the morning news before moving into covering the crimes and court beat. In 2000, the Michigan Associated Press honored her with a Best Feature Story award.

Since joining NEWSCHANNEL 3, Carolyn has covered a wide variety of stories from special Election coverage to Super Bowl XL. She won a 2005 Merit Award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for her report "A Quiet Little Town." The special project brought Carolyn to South Dakota where she met a determined group of people from Michigan trying to develop a sign-language friendly town.

Carolyn graduated with a double major from Central Michigan University. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
