GRPS strapped for cash
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We're learning just how strapped for cash Grand Rapids schools are.
The district just released its upcoming operating budget, and it's not pretty.
School leaders say they need to use up almost all of the rainy day fund in order to balance the budget.
The district also needs to make deep cuts across the board.
The plan involves cutting several administrative positions, trimming hours for other staff and restructuring alternative and special-ed programs.
