Poll: Rude use of cell phones a big pet peeve
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Texting or talking on your cell phone while driving is illegal in a handful of states because of the safety risks.
But beyond the safety concerns, many people find these practices just plain annoying.
A recent survey by Intel found that 72 percent of people said someone texting while driving was their biggest technology pet peeve.
The others in the top three were people speaking loudly on their cell phones in public and having private conversations in public.
Justine Ezarik hosts a technology Web site. She says with some simple mobile etiquette you can make things much more pleasant for the people around you.
"I feel like we've got this role. If you're at dinner with your family, put the phone away," said Ezarik.
People said they also get annoyed by people who set up their workstations in a coffee shop or use their laptops in the restroom.
If you'd like to see if you have mobile manners you can take a quiz on Intel's Web site.
