Cingular to be phased out as part of AT&T takeover
(AP) - Don't get too comfortable with the logo of Cingular Wireless.
The logo won't be around much longer. Now that AT & T Wireless has bought out Cingular, it will begin phasing in a new logo. The new campaign is to start next week and take
several months to complete.
Two weeks ago, AT & T gained full control of the nation's largest wireless carrier when it bought BellSouth. At first, the change in corporate names will include inserts reminding Cingular customers the name is going away. The Cingular name and orange "jack" logo will still appear for a while with the AT & T logo. But the company predicts that by mid-year the Cingular logo and name will fade away, with the orange color remaining as the only reminder of the link to Cingular.
