(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Health officials say at least twelve people have been hospitalized by a possible e-coli outbreak from tainted beef.

Two of those people suffered kidney failure.

Officials at the Center for Disease Control believe that nearly a dozen people in nine states have also gotten sick after eating beef produced by a company called JBS Swift.

The company recently recalled 380,000 pounds of beef after getting news of the possible e-coli contamination.

That beef was sold to retailers in several states, including Michigan.
