Colleen Chen

Colleen Chen joined NEWSCHANNEL 3 in June 2006, as a reporter based in Kalamazoo. In June of 2007, Colleen was assigned to the Battle Creek Bureau, where she reports live on Newchannel 3 at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 or whenever breaking news happens.

Before joining NEWSCHANNEL 3, Colleen worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WUFT-TV in Gainesville, Florida, while she completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida. A true girl of the South, her home town is Atlanta, where she held news internships at WGCL-TV in Atlanta and WJCL/WTGS-TV in Savannah. Prior to that, Colleen worked as a reporter at WUFT-FM covering North Central Florida.

Colleen is active in the Society of Professional Journalists and the Asian American Journalists Association, and has been honored for her work by a number of news organizations, including SPJ and the Associated Press in Florida.

Colleen says journalism is her "calling" -- she appreciates having the ability to make a real impact on a community.
