Turkey stolen in Kalamazoo County
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A thief has ruffled some feathers at a Kalamazoo County farm by taking off with a 4-H turkey.
They're not sure if the theft is supposed to be a prank, or if someone was desperate for food, but the family's turkey is gone.
Someone took the bird from a property on East P Avenue in Climax.
A young man was raising the turkey for his 4-H project and was supposed to auction the bird off at the Kalamazoo County Fair.
A bird like the one stole normally brings in as much as $300 and the family is devastated that someone was bold enough to take it.
"It's sad that you cant have animals out in the country without someone coming on your property and on your land and taking your kid's 4-H projects, it's just sickening," said Natasha Elliott.
The stolen turkey has a blue band on its ankle, it's only three months old and the family is anxious to get it back.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department at 269-383-8823.
