Father and daughter recovering from brush fire accident

NEAR ALTO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kent County man and his young daughter are recovering from serious burns after a brush fire accident.

It happened around 9 o'clock Monday night on Alden Nash Avenue near Alto.

Deputies say the man poured gasoline on a brush pile to help start the fire.

When he lit it there was an explosion. It burned him and his 17-month-old daughter who was standing nearby.

The girl suffered second degree burns on half her body. Her father has second and third degree burns on his legs.

Both are being treated at the hospital, but are expected to recover.
