David Bailey

David Bailey is the Grand Rapids/Lakeshore reporter for NEWSCHANNEL 3. He joined the team in July of 2007. David's been working for more than a decade in news. He is an award-winning investigative journalist who has worked in markets all across the eastern United States including West Virginia, Georgia, Michigan and Florida.

For David, this is his second stint in Grand Rapids. He previously worked for four years as an investigative reporter at the local Fox affiliate. During his time previously in West Michigan, David won several Associated Press awards for breaking news reports and in-depth features. He also won the Tribune Award for Excellence in Journalism for an investigative report that helped change a police policy.

Prior to his time Michigan, he spent time anchoring and reporting at the Fox station in Macon, Georgia. Before the move to Georgia, David worked for WBOY in his hometown of Clarksburg, West Virginia. He debuted as a sports reporter in Clarksburg when he was 17 years old.

David obtained his journalism degree from Ohio University with honors and is a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society. David has also taught journalism at Grand Valley State University.

He enjoys reading and researching. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and spending a day at one of the beaches in Ottawa County.
