Two Motorcyclists Hit the Same Deer

PORTER TWP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two motorcyclists hit the same deer.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department says it happened on the 76000 block of M-40 Highway at 3:44 p.m. Saturday.

Rodney Douglas Burandt, 40, of Niles was heading northbound. A deer jumped into Burandt, hitting him in his right leg. He was able to steady his Harley Davidson motorcycle before coming to a safe stop.

The deer spun around in the roadway. William Harold Naragon, 60, of Buchanan was unable to avoid the deer. He hit it, tipped over his bike and skidded 15 feet on the pavement before coming to a stop.

Naragon received multiple bruises and scrapes. Burandt suffered multiple fractures to his right leg. Both were taken to the hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
