Dowagiac Police arrested man after chase

DOWAGIAC, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3)  -  Dowagiac Police arrested a 39 year old Bridgeman man after a police chase around 2 am on Saturday.  Police were attempting to stop the vehicle near Main St. and Parsonage St. for driving with no headlights on. 

The driver then took and a police chase ensued.  The pursuit ended when the intoxicated driver slid his minivan into a tree on Garrett Rd.  The driver fled on foot and and was apprehended into the woods. 

The driver was on parole for Fleeing and Eluding in the State of Michigan.  The driver is being held at the Cass County Jail on the offenses of Fleeing and Eluding, OWI, No Operator's License and Possession of Marijuana. 

The name is being withheld until his arraignment.  The report will be forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor's Office for review.
