Jean thief decides to drive into the store
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KENTWOOD, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Kent county are looking for a suspect in a criminal drive-through.
The incident took place Wednesday morning at the B-Finest clothing store on Breton Road.
Police were called around 5:00 am, and surveillance video showed a red Oldsmobile had plowed into the front of the store. The car was gone by the time police arrived, and they are still looking for the Oldsmobile that did all the damage.
Surveillance video shows that it took just 68 seconds for the B-Finest store to be turned into something less than fine.
"Desperate times, desperate measures," said Shawn Davis manager of B-Finest.
$250 a pair Cezer jeans were the target of the crime.
"He went right to a specific shelf, took items from there only and returned to the vehicle," said Chief Richard Mattice of the Kentwood Police.
Police had responded to an anonymous phone call just ten minutes after the red Oldsmobile broke through the door, the glass and bars in the driver's way proved to be no obstacle.
"Not when you put a vehicle through the window, the gates aren't going to stop a vehicle," said Davis.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect wore a white handkerchief over his face to hide his identity. He managed to steal $2,500 worth of jeans and caused $3,500 worth of damage before driving off.
"There were pieces of the vehicle left at the scene, so we do have things that we can match," said Chief Mattice.
Police do not yet have the license plate number of the Oldsmobile.
