Firefighters rescue family pet from house fire
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Firefighters in Kalamazoo put out a house fire and rescued a family pet.
The fire started after 6:00 Sunday night at a home on Burdick Street.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the back wall of the house was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire in about 25 minutes and had it out in about an hour.
Investigators think the fire started in a couch just outside the home.
No one was hurt in the blaze, and firefighters were able to rescue the family's cat, which made it out unharmed as well.
Fire officials say the home suffered extensive damage.
