HAMILTON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Hamilton Fire Department says a charcoal grill caused a garage fire on 136th Ave.

Officials say the homeowners were grilling outside. When it started raining, they moved the grill into their garage and went inside their home.

When they came back outside, they found the garage in flames and called 911. Fire officials arrived and were able to put out the fire.

The garage is considered to be a total loss and the home also sustained damages to the siding and the attic.

The family's pet dog was killed in the fire, no one else was injured.
