Granholm orders flags lowered for Michigan soldier

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered that U.S. flags in Michigan be flown at half-staff Wednesday to honor a soldier who died in Iraq last month.

 

Flags should be lowered for Army Staff Sgt. Timothy A. David of Beaverton. The 28-year-old died June 28 from injuries sustained earlier when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

 

David was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division of Fort Hood, Texas.
