NEAR GALESBURG, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Deputies in Kalamazoo County are investigating a suspected murder-suicide near Galesburg.
It happened around 7:00 Wednesday night when investigators say a person who lives on Miller Drive shot and killed someone with a shotgun before committing suicide.
A witness who may have also been injured in the shooting flagged down a nearby police officer.
Later several patrol cars as well as a SWAT team swarmed in.
The sheriff says the strong response was necessary because they thought there may have been a hostage situation and every caution had to be taken.
"We have to make sure that everybody's safe. It has to be a methodical approach. You have to make sure that your not going to walk into something and we were confident that it was over, but we had make sure," said Sheriff Richard Fuller.
Authorities have not released the name of the shooter or the victim.
