Hadley the cat celebrates one-year anniversary

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - He is considered their little miracle, Hadley the cat.

It was a case that grabbed the attention of West Michigan. Hadley came home to his loving owners after missing for three days, on July third 2009. Someone had doused the cat with gasoline and set him on fire. Hadley had third degree burns on his ears, neck, back and legs. His owners rushed him to the Humane Society in Walker, but his care was too expensive and they needed help.

"I actually staring crying when I saw him...I've been doing this a long time and seen a lot of things...to think someone would intentionally do that to an animal is heart wrenching," said Karen Terpstra the Executive Director at the Humane Society of Kent County.

The public stepped up, donating more than 20-thousand dollars for Hadley who is now staying at the Humane Society as their official mascot.

Saturday was all about celebration for The Humane Society of Kent County and Hadley as they celebrated one year of survival.

Like everyone else, Hadley even has his own Facebook page with more than 850 Facebook friends, and he is in a relationship.
