Help for flooding victims
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Help is on the way for folks whose bank accounts went under after the summer floods.
The Small Business Association is offering low-interest loans to cover repair costs.
Governor Granholm requested them when declaring a number of local counties disaster areas.
You can start applying for a loan Wednesday.
These loans cover what your insurance does not.
"They are loans, they do have to be paid back, but these are low-interest loans, there's no closing costs, no fee to apply for the loan, and people have the choice to use or not use the loan once they are approved," said Richard Daigle, Communications Specialist with the SBA.
The SBA is opening a disaster loan outreach center in Kalamazoo to help you figure out what you qualify for.
It opens at 8:00 Wednesday morning at the county fairgrounds.
The center will offer services from 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday, through December 3rd.
