Five inmates back in custody after Tuesday escape
Comments 0(NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Five inmates from Montcalm County are back in custody after escaping from a work release program just before noon on Tuesday.
All five are inmates at the Carson City correctional Facility. The inmates were working on a drainage ditch on Easy Street near Carson City when they assaulted the guard and took off in the prison van.
All five were taken back into custody around 2:00 pm near Dimondale in Eaton County.
The corrections officer was injured in the assault. He was taken to a local hospital, but his condition is not known at this time.
