BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Battle Creek are investigating a series of car break-ins.

Thieves stole from cars on several streets around town on New Year's Eve. The cars were parked along Orchard, Chestnut and Garrison. More robberies wee reported Friday morning, just outside the city.

At least ten cars have been broken into over a period of several days, and it looks like they are all related. Five of the cars were broken into in a neighborhood on 26^th St. in Springfield Thursday night.

The people in the neighborhood say they didn't hear a thing as thieves shattered at least five windows Thursday night in the area of a couple blocks. They might not have heard anything, but they woke up to find their cars damaged and their possessions stolen. Police say a wide variety of items were taken, but mostly small electronics like radar detectors and GPS navigators.

Shortly after the victims called police Friday morning, they got some good news that included police knocking on their doors with a number of their missing possessions.

"The officers actually came into my house and he was asking for my registration and license and he got a call on his radio saying they caught the guy," said Kurtis Hosken, who had his car broken into. "They stole my radar detector, the police got that back for me, otherwise I'm really out of luck."

Battle Creek Police have two men in custody, one of them has been charged with larceny. The identities of the suspects have not yet been released, and it is unsure how many burglaries they are responsible for.

Investigators are conducting more interviews and running DNA tests.
