Insurance rates too high?

Most people shop around for the lowest prices, but are we still paying too much?
How much do you pay for auto insurance? Do you think that figure is too high? Those are two questions being tackled Monday at a public hearing in Grand Rapids.
The hearing is being held by a consumer advocate group created by Governor Granholm. Its purpose is to look closely at the laws and regulations of automobile insurance rates and to protect the interests of Michigan drivers.
Here's a quick peek at the results of a national study. In 2006, Michigan drivers spent an average of $1,067 on auto insurance, a $20 drop from 2005 and about six percent less than in 2004.
Overall, Michigan's premiums rank 12th in the nation.
