CASS COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Warrants have been issued for one subject and another subject has been arrested in the investigation of the homicide that occurred in Cass County on September 5th 2008.
The body of the victim, Miguel Calixto, a 35-year-old man from Baroda was found in a soybean field on 76th Avenue just east of Terminal Road in Van Buren County on October 12th 2008.
Investigation, carried out by Cass and Van Buren County detectives revealed that the victim was shot multiple times by Lazaro Lopez Perales at the seasonal worker camp in Wayne Township, Cass County.
An arrest warrant for open murder and felony firearm has been issued by the Cass County Prosecutors Office for Lazaro Perales, whose current location is unknown.
An arrest warrant for accessory after the fact to a felony was issued for Lazaro Perales' brother, Sotero. Sotero was arrested in Arcadia, Florida on November 22nd and extradited back to Cass County.
Besides the warrant for murder that is outstanding on Lazaro Perales through Cass County, the United States District Attorneys Office has issued a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution against the subject.
