Comments 0 | Recommend 0KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Changes are taking flight at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport.
Airport officials held a news conference Tuesday morning to announce a new airline and new destinations from Kalamazoo.
Direct Air will begin servicing the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Airport November 29th. The destinations they will offer from the airport will be Orlando and Punta Gorda, Florida.
As part of their opening celebration, Direct Air will be offering all Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Airport customers a special introductory "$79 for 79 Hours" sale. During the event, customers may call or book on-line and receive a special discounted rate of $79 for a one way ticket, plus applicable taxes and fees, for most dates of travel into or out of the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Airport, based on availability.
The special sales event began Tuesday and will conclude on Friday, September 12th.
The announcement comes on the heels of United Airline's decision to leave the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Airport just last month. United will stop carrying flights out of Kalamazoo in November.
That wasn't the only airline pulling out of West Michigan. Midwest Connect flew it's last flight out of the Muskegon County Airport on Sunday.
