Kmarts closing in Portage, Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Two Kmarts in Kalamazoo County have been slated to close.
The stores are located on Westnedge in Portage and Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo. They will be closed to the public on February 14th.
Employees received their notice on Thursday. The Portage store has 70 employees, the Kalamazoo location has 63. The corporate office of Kmart says that employees will be informed of any open positions at other locations. Employees who qualify for severance packages will receive them.
A going out of business sale will start at the stores on November 29th.
