Kalamazoo area ski resorts get weekend snows
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Weekend snows have brightened the spirits of Kalamazoo area ski resort operators hoping to attract vacation crowds later this week.
Light snow blanketed the area Saturday and Sunday, and more is forecast this week.
Bittersweet Ski Resort General Manager Victor Gayheart told the Kalamazoo Gazette says all 20 runs were open Saturday, and there was a base of about 28 inches, with an inch of fresh snow at the Otsego ski resort.
In Gobles, Timber Ridge Ski Area marketing director Joan Bailey is hoping for a "very good" holiday week now that the resort has a base of more than 24 inches of snow.
Meteorologists are predicting light snow throughout the week and cold temperatures at night - an excellent formula for ski slopes looking to attract crowds.
