Pedestrian struck and killed in Kentwood
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KENTWOOD, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Kentwood are reporting a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian.
Police say a pedestrian was walking in the roadway on 26th Street SE between Paterson Avenue SE and Acquest Avenue SE when they were struck by a vehicle and killed shortly after 5:00 am Thursday morning.
The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was a pickup truck driven by a 58-year-old male from Cascade Township, who was traveling westbound in the right lane.
Police say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor on the part of the driver and no charges against him are currently anticipated.
A witness who returned to the scene told police that he had almost struck the pedestrian earlier, and had warned him to get out of the roadway.
The deceased was taken to the Kent County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Positive identification has not been established, but police say the deceased was a male in possession of an Indiana driver's license.
