LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A trial date has been set for a former Oklahoma oil-man who is accused of stealing millions of dollars from funeral homes in several states including Michigan.
Clayton Smart will face a judge in April.
He's been in a Tennessee jail since 2007 when he was indicted for embezzlement there.
Here in Michigan the attorney general charged smart with 39 felonies.
He's accused of stealing money from trust funds ear-marked for funerals and plot maintenance at 28 cemeteries. That includes locations in Albion, Grandville, Grand Rapids and Holland.
