Arrests begin in counterfeit check ring

WYOMING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Police in Wyoming say that they have begun making arrests in a five-year long investigation involving a counterfeit check writing ring.

 

The multi-jurisdictional task force is comprised of detectives from Wyoming, Grand Rapids and Kentwood Police Departments as well as the Kent county Sheriff Department.

 

Police say that the people involved affected many business payroll and personal checking accounts.

 

The most recent account was one owned by the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

 

There is no word yet on how many people have been arrested. More information will be released later today.
