National Pancake Day
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) – It may not be marked on calendars, but Tuesday was still a unique day, National Pancake Day, and I-Hop restaurants around the country came together to make the day all about children.
I-Hop restaurants offered up free short-stacks of pancakes in an effort to raise money for local Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
For every free stack handed out, guests made a donation to the Children's Network. They hoped to raise $1.75 million nationwide.
All donations made at I-Hop in Grand Rapids are headed to local benefits.
“Most importantly it actually will go for the local hospital,” said Michael Jabr, GM of I-Hop in Grand Rapids, “out of just this one restaurant alone.”
I-Hop started National Pancake Day in 2006. In 2009 donations topped $1.5 million.
