No kill shelter opens in Kalamazoo County
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Kalamazoo County 'no kill' animal shelter cut its ribbon on Tuesday, officially opening its doors.
The SPCA of Southwest Michigan is showing off their new shelter Tuesday in Oshtemo. The shelter is on KL Avenue and 8th Street.
An open house took place Tuesday, with adoption counselors on hand to talk to anyone interested in taking a new pat.
More than half of the $1.2 million it cost to build the shelter came from private contributions, and the group couldn't be happier with their new home.
“This facility has floor drains, ventilation, heating, all the proper, necessary combination needed to get these animals in good shape and get them into good homes, which is what our mission is,” said Michael Kounelis, President of SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
Tuesday's open house runs until 7:00 pm.
