Trial begins for man accused of shooting police helicopter
HASTINGS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A trial begins Wednesday for a West Michigan man accused of shooting at a police helicopter.
An undercover drug enforcement officer told us they were searching property near Barry Crowder's home for marijuana and were not even targeting Crowder. Then, out of nowhere, Crowder came out with a bow and arrow and shot at their chopper.
But Crowder tells a different story. He says he was defending his property from guys with guns who had no business being there.
The charge against Crowder is a misdemeanor with a possibility of one year in jail.
