Escaped murderers spotted in West Michigan
Comments 0 | Recommend 0(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The United States Marshal's Office is actively searching for two prisoner escapees from Arkansas that are believed to be hiding out in West Michigan.
The U.S. Marshal's Office out of Grand Rapids tells Newschannel 3 that they are searching in Allegan and Van Buren counties for the prisoners, 39-year-old Calvin Adams and 32-year-old Jeffrey Grinder, after they were spotted in Van Buren Co. around 11 a.m. this morning. However, they are not releasing specifics about where the pair may be hiding.
Adams is originally from Allegan County, and may be seeking refuge with family members there.
Adams and Grinder escaped from the Cummins Unit in Grady, AR on Saturday, by putting on jail gaurd uniforms and walking out the front door of the prison, where they had a car waiting for them outside. Since their escape, five prison guards have been put on unpaid leave.
Adams and Grinder were both serving life sentences without parole at the prison. Adams was convicted of capital murder in Arkansas in 1995, and Grinder was convicted of capital murder, aggravated robbery and burglary in Arkansas in 2004.
Both are considered armed and dangerous, and the U.S. Marshal's Office is asking that you not approach them if you spot them.
The pair were last seen driving in a 2003 Hyundai Sonata, which is a red or burgandy color, with gray primer on the driver's side door. The Arkansas license plate number is "595 NYM."
If you see Grinder and/or Adams, or have any information about their whereabouts, you are asked to call 9-1-1.
