Bogus payroll check cashing

WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan State Police want to track down a group of people who are cashing bogus payroll checks around West Michigan.

The investigation started back in August, but detectives say the situation is only getting worse.

They say people are using fake checks from a number of area farms and are trying to cash them at banks, gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants.

A bank in Grant caught some of them in the act.
