ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The last of the four defendants in the Troy Tyo murder case has been found guilty of 1st degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Kristopher Thopson admitted to police that he stabbed Tyo and then tried to hide the evidence. A hunter found Tyo's body in his truck about a week after he disappeared.
Three others are already serving time for their roles in either the murder or the cover up. Dena Thompson is serving a life sentence for murder, Lori Lathrop pleaded guilty to being an accessory and Scott Lathrop is behind bars for assault.
The case went to the jury around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon after the defense presented it's closing argument. The only defense offered was that there was no plan to kill Tyo.
After jurors watched Kristopher Thompson admit on tape that he stabbed Tyo, ditched his bloody knife and clothing and then set the truck on fire, there seemed little left for the defense to argue.
