Arkansas fugitives caught in New York State
Comments 0 | Recommend 0NEW YORK STATE - (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Associated Press is reporting that the two Arkansas fugitives who were spotted Monday in Van Buren County, have been located in New York State.
The fugitives, 39-year-old Calvin Adams and 32-year-old Jeffrey Grinder, both convicted murderers, were thought to be hiding in either Allegan or Van Buren County, after they were spotted in a burgundy Hyundai Sonata around 11 a.m. Monday.
Adams and Grinder escaped from the Cummins Unit in Grady, AR on Saturday, by putting on jail guard uniforms and walking out the front door of the prison, where they had a car waiting for them outside. Since their escape, five prison guards have been put on unpaid leave.
According to the Associated Press, Adams and Grinder were in that same Hyundai Sonata that was spotted in Van Buren County, and were discovered when a New York State trooper tried to pull them over for speeding near Hornell, which is about 90 miles southeast of Buffalo. The pair crashed the car in an attempt to get away, and then tried to run away from the trooper, but were caught. No one was hurt in the accident.
