Suspect arraigned in Barry County break-ins
HASTINGS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The man accused of breaking into a Hastings Township home, then running from police on Thursday was in court on Friday.
50-year-old Jeffrey Travis of Hastings was arraigned Friday on charges connected to a string of home burglaries in Barry County.
Prosecutors say Travis already has a history of felony convictions, and now faces charges of home invasion, and fleeing and eluding. Both those charges carry minimum sentences of 15 years. Between the two charges, Travis is being held on $175,000 bond.
Police were called out on Thursday to East Center Road in Hastings Township after a homeowner says he found the suspect in his home.
Travis then jumped in a vehicle and took off. Officers finally caught up with him at a gas station in Prarieville.
Officers searched the suspects home, and say they found a large amount of stolen property connected to other robberies in Barry County.
