Pit bull owner could face charges after mail carrier bitten
STURGIS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Charges could be coming against the owners of a pit bull in Sturgis after that dog bit a mail carrier.
The incident happened Saturday on the 100 block of Congress Street in Sturgis. Police say the pit bull bit postal carrier Sherry Hansman on the hand as she tried to deliver the mail. A fourteen year old was in control of the dog at the time.
Hansman says another pit bull puppy came after her, but did not bite her.
Hansman was able to call 911 herself and the owners' son took the dog away and put it in the house.
The dog is up to date on all of its rabies shots, but police are still investigating the incident and the owner could face charges.
