Officer charged with intent to distribute crack cocaine

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man who took an oath to protect and serve has found himself on the other side of the law.

Benton Harbor police officer Andrew Collins is accused of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Collins was a narcotics officer, and the indictment alleges that he failed to report all the drugs he seized while on the job, keeping them for himself instead.

Investigators say he also falsified information to get search warrants and embezzled police funds.
